Fast-growing startup based in downtown Cincinnati, is looking for a Lead Front End Engineer with experience in React.js to lead the ongoing development of their software platform’s user interface. The ideal candidate has experience managing a team of developers; is passionate about building responsive, web-based applications; loves writing clean, reusable code and future-proof architecture; and has an eye for user-centric design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the product owner and lead back-end engineer to define, hone, plan, and execute the platform’s product roadmap
• Manage a small team of front-end developers, including code review, mentorship, assigning and prioritizing tasks, performing QA checks on their work, helping them advance their careers in software development, and hiring additional developers to round out the team
• Architect, implement, and validate new features for the front-end application, including designing and developing new components or improving the current user experience
• Write tests for your code using popular front-end testing frameworks
• Maintain the existing codebase, including DRYing out legacy code, updating third-party dependencies, and increasing the platform’s test coverage

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE

• Minimum of 5 years with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES2015+), including concepts like asynchronous programming, Promises, CommonJS, and ES6
• At least 2 years experience managing a team of developers
• At least 2 years of experience with a modern single-page application JavaScript framework (React.js and Redux are a major plus)
• Examples of clean, simple, and scalable code (open source contributions are a plus)
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
